Fall is here and winter to follow. What a difference a year makes. I know today is October 1st but as we just finished September and I do not know what October 2025 will have in store, I will reminisce on September of 2025.

I am very grateful to have made it through this month and thankful for all of you who are alive with me. You are blessed to be alive today and to be reading my writing, hehe. Nonetheless, last September was a different time. Movies I would like to remember from last September were The Wild Robot, Transformers One, and Speak No Evil. That’s a pretty decent lineup. Even though I am to scared to watch Speak No Evil, I remember the trailer being very good and frightening.

The Substance which went on to get nominated for Best Picture was also released in September of last year, which leads me to One Battle After Another. A dark comedy directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who also directed Licorice Pizza has brought together a good cast starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, Teyana Taylor, Alana Haim, and Regina Hall. One Battle After Another was released late September and I really want to make sure people do not miss it.

In July of this year I wrote about Eddington and how I believe that this movie is the best film of the year. Well, One Battle After Another is the film that I had at the top of my mind before Eddington. As of yet, I have not seen the film but I implore you dear reader to go and watch One Battle After Another. Why? Because I believe this movie will be great and give you a new experience. This film is inspired by the novel "vineland" by Thomas Pynchon so it is not a remake, a reboot, or a sequel to a long running franchise. This film is sharing a story you have not heard before with the entertaining Leonardo DiCaprio taking the helm as our entry into the protagonist’s life.

Ironically, Carlos just wrote about the dangers of hype but I can’t help myself. I am hyped for this movie and I want to share my excitement with all of you.

Upcoming Movies Heading to Theaters

Avatar: The Way of Water (October 3)

Yes, Avatar 2 is coming back to theaters and I am a sucker for this franchise so I will probably be sitting by myself in the theatre traveling back to Pandora.

The Smashing Machine (October 3)

The Rock may get an Oscar nomination with this auteur take on Mark Kerr. I just hope people will care about The Smashing Machine since The Iron Claw did not get much awards attention.

TRON: Ares (October 10)

TRON is a fitting story to see on screen due to the rise of LLMs (large language models). I wonder if we’ll get a glimpse of our future by watching this film.

Roofman (October 10)

Channing Tatum in a weird, wacky, romantic comedy in October? Aww the 2010s are calling. The trailer is good and I do think this could be a fun instant classic.

Good Fortune (October 17)

Can’t get enough Seth Rogen? Well, here, here’s a movie with him in it. Yeah by this point in my life the Rogen laugh is just inevitable. Keanu Reeves, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, yes please!

Predator: Badlands (November 7)

Yes! Predator is back in the theater and it looks sooo good! Hold up. I am not saying the movie is going to be good but it looks good. Like, you can take the movie seriously, kind of good.

Final Words

May your journey through this year be full of vigor and take hold in strength the life you wish to lead.
