CREATOR SPOTLIGHT | Jesús Noland

We're shining a light on the talent and ambition of our very own founder!

Where It All Began

It is only on rare occasion that you run into a creative who is not only multi-talented, but also completely obsessed with their work in such a way that you can almost quite literally say they live and breathe their projects. If you could make a world-building sandwich, this creator would definitely eat it—and then proceed to talk about it for the next several hours, only to break for more yummy sandwiches.

Musty Creative LLC founder, Jesús Noland, started his creative lifestyle as a small boy, acting out ninja fight sequences with his inhalers. His imagination was expansive and wild, though at the time, he hadn’t yet discovered a method to the madness.

It wasn’t until he found inspiration from the film Live Free or Die Hard that everything clicked. He realized he wanted to code—and code HARD. Much to the disapproval of his parents, he left behind a collegiate pursuit of pre-med and dove headfirst into the world of software engineering at Cal State Fullerton.

After graduation, he began his career working full-time as an engineer while continually using up his free time creating passion projects like Litpen, a tool that helps writers organize their thoughts using mapping and color coordination.

During this time, Jesús’s personal and professional growth blossomed. He discovered a deep passion for game development, writing, and storytelling. His mind became a playground for rich, immersive stories, which he infused into video games, books, apps, and eventually, a podcast that captured the very heart of what makes storytelling meaningful: curiosity, joy, and a love for the creative process.

Today, Jesús continues to push the envelope as a Unity developer, writer, and host of The Musty Creative Podcast. Whether he’s building immersive game worlds, designing quirky app experiences, or diving deep into pop culture analysis on the mic, his relentless drive and imagination remain at the core of everything he does.

On a personal note…

Without Jesús’s love for stories, pop culture, and imagination, The Musty Creative wouldn’t exist. From recording podcast episodes in the backseat of our car to booking real studios in the heart of Hollywood, Jesús nurtured the seed that grew into the beautiful creative garden we have today. His consistency, energy, and belief in the power of storytelling are what make Musty Creative feel like home.

Witnessing all these wonderful attributes unfold from Jesús over the years and seeing his growth has deeply impacted my own creative journey (I am his wife after all). He’s taught me to take risks—big, bold, and sometimes uncomfortable ones—in pursuit of the life I truly want to live. He’s shown me that obsession isn’t a bad thing when it’s fueled by purpose and vision. His hunger for learning, experimenting, and building has reminded me that creative growth doesn’t have to be linear, and that it’s okay to be messy, passionate, and persistent all at once.

More than anything, Jesús has taught me the value of staying true to your inner world—the weird, nerdy, wild, and wonderful parts that make your voice unique. Because of him, I hope to dive deeper into my craft, embrace play, and never stop imagining new possibilities for my future.

Jesús Noland isn’t just a creator—he’s a force of creative nature. And I’m lucky to be on this journey with him.
